Novel technologies for X-ray crystal structure and function studies of nucleic acids and protein-nucleic acid complexes have been discovered and developed by SeNA Research, Inc. These exciting, convenient, and time-and-effort-saving methodologies using selenium-derivatized nucleic acids (SeNA), which faciliate crystal growth and quality, will allow phase and structure determination with high resolution (Fig. 1). Selenium derivatization of nucleic acids has been proven superior to conventional methods as evidenced by:
